What Do I do if my air conditioning isn’t working?

In this video, Richard Miller, a Furnace Specialist of Expert Plumbing, Heating, Air and Electrical in Utah, discusses some tips on what to do when your air conditioning isn’t working.

“If you come home and your air conditioner feels like it’s blowing warm air or not blowing very hard at all, the first thing I would check is the filter. I’d say 80% of calls I go on, the root cause of the failure is a dirty filter. That would be the first thing I would check as a homeowner to try to save the cost of a service fee to have someone come out and look at it, because if that filter is dirty, the unit is not going to function properly.

The next thing I would check is I would go to the unit outside and see if it has a lot of plant matter, grass, cottonwood fiber (cottonwood fiber is a big one), blocking the vents on the unit outside. Those are two things that really anybody can check to make sure that your air conditioner is running properly and making sure that you have power to the unit, because if you’re not getting any power you’re not going to get any cool.
