What causes main sewer line clogs?

“Main sewer lines get plugged up a lot of times because of things like roots, getting into the line and closing it off or certain separations or barriers from improper installation of the line in the first place.

Another thing would be, a lot of the times, feminine hygiene products being flushed when they’re not supposed to, or paper towels, baby wipes; things that people are flushing down the toilet (rather than toilet paper) that are heavier and a little bit thicker so it slows down inside the pipe and things just build up on that.
