Why did you become a Plumber?
In this video, Jim Munson explains the reason why he became a Salt Lake City Plumber.
I guess because my dad was a plumber, so I became a plumber. It’s funny you should ask, I have a great story I actually told this morning at a meeting.
When I was 17 years old, I went out with my dad to a drive-in theatre. We couldn’t get the line unplugged. The line had been crushed. Everybody started coming in trying to use the bathroom, it was broken. So we’re going, okay, what do we do here? They had to go out of the theatre to go use the bathrooms. The next morning we were there, we finally figured out what it was, it was a crushed pipe. We started digging it up, we got to a part where we could dig it up, unfortunately, the movies were starting to start the next night. It took all day to get that done, so we decided just to dig a big, huge hole, and all the poop and stuff would go in the hole and we’d come back the next day and hook it all up and get it finished. That’s what happened that night, it filled up right to the brim, overflowing almost. The next day we were there, tried to fix it, and we pumped out quite a bit, but we got down to where I was up to my elbows in crap trying to fit a pipe. My dad was holding my legs. It was on a slope, and he slipped, and I went diving headfirst into the pit of crap. Not fun. I jumped up right out of there. And I just felt gross and was looking for something to take a wash, and wash myself off. My dad said, “Jim, get back in there. Now you’re already crappy. Get in there and fix it.” So, being the low man on the totem pole, I jumped in there and got it done. I got home, I took 4 or 5 showers, I still felt gross. I threw my clothes away. I seriously didn’t think I was going to become a plumber after that.
But, for some reason I’m still here (30 years later). I love plumbing. The biggest reason I love plumbing is I get to meet new people, especially service plumbing, where I go out and I meet new people. It’s the idea of going out and fixing something and being the hero. Whether it’s unplug the sewer, fix the drippy sink, or their garbage disposal is stuck, and I get to be the hero. And they appreciated me. And I get to be paid for this. It’s great. So that’s why I decided to stick with it and become a plumber.
I really hope you enjoyed this video. Maybe it’d be helpful to you and your family. If you happen to need a plumber, I hope you really, seriously think about calling Plumber Salt Lake City – Expert Plumbing, Heating, Air and Electrical.
