Plumber Salt Lake City Utah video #27:
80% efficiency furnace and a 95% furnace
In this video, Richard Miller, a Furnace Specialist of Expert Plumbing, Heating, Air and Electrical in Utah, discusses 80% efficiency furnace and a 95% furnace.
“The difference between an 80% furnace and a 90% efficiency furnace really is how efficiently it burns the gas and how efficiently is uses the electricity.
In an 80% furnace the gas gets burnt one time and then all the exhaust gets pushed out of your home. In a 95% efficiency furnace, it actually goes and runs that gas through a second time to try and pull as much heat out of the gas as possible, to where all that’s left is just essentially water vapor.
That’s really the big difference between an 80% and a 95% efficiency furnace. A 95% efficient we can use plastic pipe for flueing, and they can save you quite a bit of money over the course of a year.
